Our staff know their stuff & are helpful
4WD1 was founded at the beginning of the 4WD and off-road recreation boom – way back in 1976.
Initially, the business marketed engine kits to allow fitment of Chevy V8s to Landcruisers and Holden sixes to Land Rovers. Through the 80s and early 90s the primary business was as a distributor of replacement parts for Jeeps. It was fortunate that (at the time) none of the Aussie suspension specialists were catering for these vehicles, as it led to our long-term, and highly-successful relationship with Rancho in the USA.
Today, 4WD1 is one of the world’s largest 4WD suspension specialists. We also market a select line of quality 4WD accessories as a value-added service to our customers.
What makes us special?
Firstly, no matter where you live, 4WD1 delivers. Distance and remote areas are no problem. As one of our customers said recently, “It’s just like ordering a pizza!” Most orders are shipped same day. You can phone, fax, email, or order online. The service is as smooth as cold beer.
Secondly, our sales staff are the best in the industry. We sell based on your needs (vehicle type, load-bearing, usage, budget and expectations) – not just what a manufacturing company has given us to push on to you. It’s a consultive selling process. We know our stuff and our product range is huge.
Thirdly, we only sell products fit for the purposes for which they have been marketed. The extremities of Australia’s off-road terrain provide the ultimate testing ground for performance, reliability and function. Bulldust belongs in the Outback – not in your sales-spiel.
Last (but not least) – we act honourably. While the 4WD1 marketing and strategy is edgy and creative, we act honourably in everything we do. We have earned an excellent reputation with our customers, suppliers, media partners, distributors and the general 4WD community. In simple terms – we do the right thing.
In working out a solution for our customers, there is usually a complicated relationship between needs, wants, function and safety requirements – all of which need to be satisfied. When it comes to suspension product, sometimes a customer is surprised when we recommend fitting a certain brand and capacity of product to the front-end of their vehicle, and a different brand and capacity of product to the rear. But say, in the case of a new Navara D40, the relatively ‘light’ front-end suspension is worlds apart from the solid-axle leaf-sprung rear-end suspension set-up. It makes sense then to supply products (ultimately) in consideration of the inherent strengths and limitations of the vehicle’s design – not just by brand name.
